Back in the old days, Oak would come over to the home studio and we would jam for hours at a time - usually recording the sessions for later review. On one magical night we came up with a theme that would be the basis for a new dance song. Oak thought up the name of the dance - the Impossible - inspiring us to reach beyond our normal lives, to go out there and literally Do The Impossible!

Every dance has a name
Even if it's without particular motion
When I count to two
Everybody ought to do our dance
It's called the Impossible!

We recorded a number of jams around this musical theme, several of which are presented here. Our favorite is "Holding It So Long" because the jam flowed together well. "As Rough As It Gets" was recorded late at night with Oak singing to my Fender Rhodes accompaniment. "Brevity" is a short review of the dance's primary motifs.

But like so many of our musical ideas, we never fully realized the song's potential at the time. I've used the Impossible themes a few times in homage to our recording time together, and maybe someday we'll get together and record the final "Do The Impossible." Possible?
